Upcoming Events:

February

February 10, Wednesday
"A Message of Hope"

Humanities Lecture
7:00 pm
Canyon Community Center
126 Lion Blvd.

Free

Michael McBride of Rockville and Alaska will report on the United Nations-like gathering of the 9th World Wilderness Congress in November in Merida, the Yucatan, Mexico.  Pres. Philippe Calderon convened approximately 1,500 delegates from 50 nations and the event was called “7 days that will change the world”. This lofty claim was enhanced by stirring speeches by Pres. Calderon, the Governor of Quintana Roo, Jane Goodall, Sylvia Earle and a host of notables from around the world.

Michael, a board member of the sponsoring organization, The Wild Foundation, (www.wild.org), will discuss the gathering and "The Philosophy of Hope and Action", about how each of us can make a difference.

February 26, Friday
"The Universe of Keith Haring"

Documentary Film
7:00 pm
Canyon Community Center
126 Lion Blvd.

Free

The art of Keith Haring might be described as graphic lines and simplified, cartoon images that dance and undulate to their own rhythm. While the use of his art for common household goods may be regarded by some art critics as commercialism, it is really the wide appeal of his work that makes it so desirable.

Welcome new Board Members!

We are very pleased to introduce to you 3 new members of our Z-Arts! team! New to the community are Mark Chambers and Joe Pitti who have graciously accepted the positions of President and Vice-President of Communications. Both are veterans of the arts scene in Salt Lake City and we are pleased to benefit from their willingness to serve.

We have also been without a Visual Arts Chair for some time, so we are eager to see the new direction Tina Tutt will take. Lisa Zumpft, longtime Z-Arts! benefactress, rejoins us this time in the capacity of a Humanities Chair, so we welcome her back too!

As promised, Z-Arts! remains a vital and dynamic organization. However, we are still in need of a Volunteer Coordinator and most importantly, organizers for our annual Open Studios event in the spring of 2010. Please email Vicki at zarts@springdaletown.com for more information.
