A Presentation by ZNP Artist in Residence - Sophia Conley, Leather Worker

What started out as a way to unwind, watching videos of professional leatherworkers, has quickly grown into a small business striving to produce unique pieces. Often inspired by nature and different landscapes, the wallets, belts, and purses from Malevolent Leather are ever changing with the seasons. It is my belief that you should be able to customize your piece if you so choose, down to the entire color scheme. There are never too many options! I will fully immerse myself in the landscape of the park, observing its textures, movement, and light. I will study the relationship between shadow and hue, the way natural elements interact and change with time and how these elements can be translated onto leather. My goal is to combine disciplines - drawing, sculpting, carving, and design - to craft pieces that honor the landscape in…
